The cabin trip was very nearly perfect. Great lodgings, great food, great weather, great companions.

We did a lot of drinking (I believe the final count was four bottles of Scotch, two bottles of wine, five cases of beer and half a bottle of vodka) and played a lot of games (Trivial Pursuit, Battleship, pool, Balderdash, Hold ‘em, Five-Card Draw, Seven-Card Draw, .357, Acey-Deucey ...). We staged a massive Scotch tasting contest for the boys. We smoked cigars. We played word games and told terrible stories in the hot tub or around the fire pit. We played the second incarnation of Kyle’s baby, Name That Rick, which this time around included an entrance song for each of us (mine is “Kiss of Death” by Dokken). But mostly we just hung out and enjoyed our time together. It ended way too soon.
